Kate Clothier is leading a double life: a successful jet-setting businesswoman to the outside world, but behind closed doors, life with Daniel and his volcanic temper is anything but rosy.

Some days – heck, make that EVERY day – cake is her only salvation.

Slowly but surely, the cities she visits – and the men she meets – help her to realise there IS a better future.

And the ley lines of Glastonbury are certainly doing their best to impart their mystical wisdom…

But will she escape before it’s too late?

Happy book birthday!

Not going to lie, the first thing that drew me to this book….Pavlova! I love Pavlova, and that front cover, well looks so tasty! Yum……..ok ok I am back in the room!

This book was an engrossing tale, a tale of a woman living two lives. The one the world can see and the one behind closed doors. Kate is someone who I could be friends with, have a glass of wine and hit the town she was fun when she wasn’t at home.

So to the world and Kate’s jet-setting, she was not the most behaved person, but behind closed doors, with Daniel, you could see why she acted the way she did. To put it politely, he was downright awful, he stripped her confidence away, made her feel worthless and he was anything but nice. In some respect of the story, I related, living the same experiences (not the jet-setting or other men) in a previous life. I had no confidence, was manipulated, I took all the rubbish that was given but I got out. So to read this story of someone going through (most of) the same things, my heart went out to her. It makes for a harrowing read at times.

Her jet-setting ways and lavish lifestyle were her escape. An escape she needed, time to think, does she stay for penance? Is this what he has done to her? Making her think she deserves this behaviour? this life?

When I signed up to read this book, I had no idea that this is what I would be reading. I thought it would be a fluffy romance, I mean no disrespect, instead I found such a realistic life story,  and then bam…well hello ending, where did you come from! You crept up on me out of nowhere. Well well well…

On the other side, I now just want to go out and eat deserts with all the descriptive desert references, not sure my waist band would let me!

About Isabella May

Isabella May lives in (mostly) sunny Andalucia, Spain with her husband, daughter and son, creatively inspired by the sea and the mountains. When she isn’t having her cake and eating it, sampling a new cocktail on the beach, or ferrying her children to and from after school activities, she can usually be found writing. As a co-founder and a former contributing writer for the popular online women’s magazine, The Glass House Girls – www.theglasshousegirls.com – she has also been lucky enough to subject the digital world to her other favourite pastimes, travel, the Law of Attraction, and Prince (The Purple One). She has recently become a Book Fairy, and is having lots of fun with her imaginative ‘drops’! Costa del Churros is her third novel with Crooked Cat Books, following on from the hit sensations, Oh! What a Pavlova and The Cocktail Bar.
