Two-time divorcee Abby Maxwell needs another man in her life like she needs a third butt cheek.
Her eccentric, free-spirited Aunt Greta wholeheartedly disagrees and dishes out unsolicited dating advice based on her five marriages.
But when a jaw-dropping gorgeous architect waltzes into town to build a resort on Abby’s favorite hiking spot, she will do anything to stop him, including befriending him.
Though Abby and James are at odds property-wise, things spice up in this fast-paced romantic comedy over late night Scrabble games and hotter-than-hell Chinese food, leaving Abby to wonder if the property that really needs protecting is the one around her heart.
✮ My Review ✮
Ok, I am sad after reading this because I can now officially say I have read every single book by Rich and I am at a big gaping loss now! What am I meant to do now!!!!
I really did love this book! I was smiling the whole way through because the banter was brilliant and cute and funny! Who knew you can have so much fun with food! Aunt Greta is a woman after my own heart with her cheekiness and dirty banter! I love the innuendos, something I always seem to do ?
Abby is a two-time divorcee and is completely sworn off men. She doesn’t want to agro of another relationship. Eternity is the next time she wants a man…then James walks into the seminar she is attending with Aunt Greta.
James, well I don’t know what to say about him, I think I am slightly in love with him! He was perfect! Not too perfect, a complete klutz, well more like Abby is and in fact, affects him, and he does work for a firm who wants to tear down a beautiful nature reserve to build a golf resort. But his dog Scrabble shows you his loving side.
In Lord of the Rings… ahem… Bored of the Rings(!) life is so much simpler for this couple than most of the others we have encountered, here they are in their 50s, but not quite sure what to do with themselves, but they are passionate. Finding their feet in this world and a crossroads in their lives. You can tell from the beginning what might tear them apart but then…it doesn’t! Yet, there is another twist in the tale, something I didn’t expect. Amooi’s books are forever about the HEA but will we get it in this one? Well you will have to find out won’t you ?
This is definitely a firm favourite of mine! From the disastrous events with food to meeting McNasty the bull, all events pull at James and Abby to be together and I am still smiling like a baffoon! I just don’t know what else to say that hasn’t been said in all my reviews. Now, do you see why Mr Amooi got the month of love as part of my takeover! It’s all about love, sweetness, and cuteness in his book. They give you a chance to escape and to experience the Hollywood love that I can only dream of. Prince/Princess Charming swooping in to save the day! I love it!!
I really don’t think I could add any more. You just need to read it. Definitely a tie for first with the others… which ones well I think you may have to guess!
Until next time xxx
What have other readers said?
Goodreads reviewer says:- For me, what makes this story so great are the characters. Both our hero and heroine are divorced and in their fifties. Isn’t that cool? Love it! And the humor is terrific! ?
Goodreads reviewer says:- What I loved about this book though was the very fact that the central characters were in their 50’s and yet they were still going through the same things you would expect from characters in their 20’s and it had me laughing quite a lot at some of the situations. For those of you who enjoy chic lit then I would recommend this book and maybe check out one or two others by this author
Goodreads reviewer says:- I just loved it! It was sweet, silly, fun and everything a romantic comedy story should be. I had never read a Rich Amooi book before and I have to admit that I went in with a slightly biased opinion. A man writing romantic comedy? Well he did and did it well.
