The serial killer is behind bars. But the murders are just beginning…
DC Maggie Jamieson's past comes back to haunt her in this dark and gripping serial killer thriller.
Three missing women running out of time…
They were abducted years ago. Notorious serial killer Bill Raven admitted to killing them and was sentenced to life.
The case was closed – at least DC Maggie Jamieson thought it was…
But now one of them has been found, dismembered and dumped in a bin bag in town.
Forensics reveal that she died just two days ago, when Raven was behind bars, so Maggie has a second killer to find.
Because even if the other missing women are still alive, one thing’s for certain: they don’t have long left to live…
✮ My Review ✮
It is the dreaded second book, how will things go following the events from book one? Well, things are different for sure! Maggie is back with her old team following her escape after the mysterious Bill Raven who haunted her in book one. The problem is he is no longer just a haunting, he is the forefront of her days now and that is something that you really do not want to have!
3 women have gone missing, you might recognise a few names….*cough* and now Maggie is against the clock and the main person involved, sitting behind the bars, is the main man Mr Raven! He loves toying with Maggie way too much and this time, well I was not happy there are somethings you do not toy with, man it was a step too far!!!!
We are running out of time bits of bodies turn up around Staffordshire and Dr Kate Moloney is on call this time to help again. A budding friendship is blossoming between Maggie and Kate, even if there is a hint of will they/won’t they. However, this time something is stalking Kate and well some of these parcels/letters are terrifying, poor girl I would be literally quaking behind my curtains and would never leave the house!
We are given a book which shows the behind the scenes of a police procedure, the frustrations of one woman on “her” crusade to get this man, to keep him behind the bars and she is willing to risk everything for this. She is written in a realistic fashion, she tests her boss’ patience sometimes with her attitude and unwillingness to look elsewhere, yet you can clearly picture that this would happen in a police team where tensions rise high!
This is a gritty and dark book with an ending you don’t expect…..or do you? It will get under your skin, with short snappy chapters you keeping telling yourself, oh just one more chapter tonight. I did find when I was giving the time to sit and read I did fly through the book. There is so much research into this book, I kept trying to picture the places in Staffordshire as I lived there for 4 years, but a lot of the places were made up so I just kept thinking of what it could be. The descriptive writing will have you right in the action with Maggie and the squad. All the senses are heightened, the sounds, the smells – oh god not the smells, and the sights that you can see so vividly in your mind.
It is book 2, you can read this as a standalone, but I will urge you to read the first book as then you will get a more complete picture to what is giving Maggie nightmares.
Now give me book 3!!!!
Until next time xxx
