Losing control is not an option for Izzy Shaw, something past experience has taught her. When you're not in control, bad things happen. So when Parker Cole comes bustling into her life with his carefree manner, no full time job and his terrible Hawaiian shirts, she knows she should stay away. For Parker, seeing Izzy at Penelope's wedding stirred something in him. Izzy intrigues him. She's attracted to him but she holds back and she doesn't realise he sees this as a challenge. Usually when he wants something, he goes for it. For Izzy, being attracted to a man and allowing herself to act upon it is defined by her rules. She lives by her rules, they protect her... Parker is a rule breaker. Over the course of 10 dates Parker has to persuade Izzy that he's worth the risk, he has to persuade her that sometimes life doesn't have to be all about rules, sometimes you have to walk on the edge to really appreciate living... He will prove this to her, one date at a time
✮ My Review ✮
I apologise now if this review is all over the place but I am trying to compose my thoughts and I can’t, I am too giddy about it!
Ok, a breath first…. ahem…
I am going to start the post with I love Parker! I mean seriously I LOVE PARKER. There I said it, now we can move on. Parker is the type of guy every girl wants to meet in their life, he pushes you out of your comfort zone and challenges everything. The story isn’t completely about him though, it’s about Izzy.
Izzy has dating rules, she has had her heartbroken and a rough upbringing, so she protects herself with her rules. To the outside world, she has a carefree attitude and does not care that her friends think she is a bit of a floozy. She is a beautiful redhead with long legs and loves her life the way she lives it. Then Parker comes along and literally blows everything out the window. The opening scenes were a raunchy affair in a Porsche, following a wedding that had occurred in Book 1 (DO NOT WORRY, you do not have to read the first book to read this) between Izzy and Parker and she feels alive with him!
Izzy does not do dating! She refuses! I mean why bother! The rules are in place to protect her heart. As much as I loved her, there were a couple of times where I thought you dick, sorry but true. I understand why she was protecting herself, some of her actions though to get a reaction were harsh. I also loved that Parker made her step out of her comfort zone and that is what scared her and to resist him.
Parker does not care for her rules and is just as stubborn as Izzy! He sees Izzy as a challenge, one he is going to win. The dates he takes her on and the way he sets them up was fabulous (her own friends betraying her to help Parker was hilarious), you really do want your own Parker! The dates were so different and fun! I loved that on the first date, he handcuffed Izzy to him so she could not getaway! They a group date which was funny and sounded like great fun (until the pub incident IZZY!!), I mean paintballing in the boob ouch!! There was part of a date where there is a Frozen drinking game, which I may at some point try because it sounded hilarious and like a very drunken affair! Epic!
I loved that Parker pushed the boundaries with Izzy, he saw something special in Izzy, something we all could see but she couldn’t, she was too far broken. But she finally caught up, in the end, learning that she could give in to her fears and learn to love again. He is her knight in shining armour with his own insecurities, both living with a loss and both scared of where their adventure will take them.
You do not need to read the first book, as some of it is explained in this book. This book starts with a continuation of book 1, which was fine but apparently, we have more Parker so I am going to go back and read it!
I am so happy to learn that there is another book coming out in August 2018 (Whoop whoop!), and this is based on Lacey! I can’t wait to find out more! Plus Book one is going on my TBR list so that I can catch up with Hope and Daniel, and how they met as it was teased in this book.
We learned that when it comes to love and heartbreak all the rules just go out the (Porsche) window!!
Until next time xxx
