I am really excited to welcome W.D Jackson-Smart to my blog today as we take a look at his new book From Inside the House. Due to recent health issues I was not able to read this time but it is very high on the (never-ending) list to read.
This is the second book in the D.I Graves series, the first book being The Demons Beneath. I am loving the book titles they sound awesome, let us check out the blurb for the first book now! (Psst…it is also currently 99p on Amazon (link below) and on Kindle Unlimited!!)

When a bloody corpse is discovered in a North London park, Detective Inspector Daniel Graves is the man tasked with finding the killer. With no clues and no suspects it seems like a dead end. Then another body turns up and this time it looks like it could be his fault. Has his investigation caused the murderer to strike again? Is he dealing with a serial killer?
As case one gets ever more complicated, a report comes in of another suspicious death but this is nothing like any other Graves has dealt with. All involved are convinced that something supernatural is to blame. A demon. Daniel is no believer but could he be wrong?
With two cases on his shoulders and the truth behind each beyond his grasp, Graves must race against time before both killers, human or otherwise, strike again.
I am very lucky to already have my grubby mitts on a copy of this book! Way excited for this!!
Ok that is the hair raising first book, now what about From Inside the House, what is this all about??
From Inside the House by W.D. Jackson-SmartSeries: D.I. Graves #2
Published by Panther Publishing on July 2019
Amazon UK

Two victims. Brutally murdered in their own home. Body parts taken.
D.I. Graves is back on the case to face his toughest challenge yet. A case with no motive and no suspect, nothing at all that could explain why someone would kill innocent people in such a way.
Then the next victims are discovered. Another pair of bodies. New body parts taken. Again in their own home.
Someone is breaking into houses across the city at night, leaving horror in their wake. It seems to Graves that this could be two serial killers, working together. But how are they choosing their victims? Is any house in London a target? Is anyone safe?
To make matters worse, a journalist is threatening to cause more harm than good with her obsessive push in covering the story to further her career, and someone is targeting Graves personally, seeking revenge against him in relation to an old case.
Can Graves keep himself safe long enough to stop the serial killers before they strike again?
Ok, I am positively chomping at the bit to read this, my 20 books for Summer list has changed again!!!
Well if you don’t think this sounds awesome, well what’s wrong with you, shall we check out what the fabulous bloggers have said on tour so far?
From Belguim with Book Love says
Graves is a great main character, I really like him. He’s not your run-of-the-mill tough-as-nails manly man, but he’s not a wuss either. He comes across as a rather vulnerable man, not yet jaded at the sight of a gruesome murder, but that doesn’t stop him from investigating a bunch of them……
From Inside the House packs a lot of punch in not that many pages. If you’re in the market for an entertaining serial killer story to read this summer, I’d happily recommend this one!

I thought that the characters were very well developed and I enjoyed their interaction. The plot and structure of the book were well prepped which helped to make it a gripping read from the start. The description in the book were excellent and they made me really feel as though I was there looking at the same
I will admit the description of the first murders had me going ewwww and oooooh at the same time as I although I am not a big fan of blood and gore in real life, I do seem to like reading about it. I will warn you that as more bodies turn up the killings don’t get any less gruesome so if you really are squeamish then you may need to read those parts quickly, however thankfully the author does not go into graphic detail of the killings for the majority of them…..
From Inside the House is another fast paced book from Jackson-Smart and a welcome addition to a series that I am intrigued to see where it goes to next. You don’t have to have read The Demons Beneath (the first in the series) to enjoy this book but I would heartily recommend that you do as like this one it’s a brilliant read.
Like Herding Cats says
It was refreshing to read a novel with two main male protagonists who have the tough cop exterior but are actually able to express their emotions and who actually showed them. Both characters were likable and portrayed as ‘human’ with flaws and thoughts that most of us can identify with.
Did these reviews win you over? If anything it has got me more intrigued!!
Until next time xxx
