Fresh from his ordeals in the HQ re-education centre and then with Raquel the serial killer, Nick is taking some well-earned time off.
Of course, Nick doesn’t know how to relax, so most of his downtime involves scouting for his next lover. Cue gorgeous young twink Rafe …
Rafe is failing his way through life. First as a writer, now as a waiter: he comes to Nick’s attention when he gets fired from the bistro Nick happens to be in.
It’s clear Rafe has zero confidence. He’s been living a cycle of self-denial, meaning he’s long overdue a good time.
Nick decides he has the goods to rock Rafe’s world AND shake up his worldview a little.
Little does Nick know that Rafe has a few surprises himself …
DOWNTIME is explicit M/M erotica. PLEASE NOTE: This story is for adults only and contains homoerotic content, as well as depictions of flogging, exhibitionism, religious iconography, mild horror as well as commentary on life choices, mental health and self-care.
Well, Downtime was a deliciously rude and nice interlude to Nick. The empowerment he gives or should I say the empowerment someone takes upon meeting Nick was enthralling to watch and a welcome refresh.
Nick wants Rafe, no qualms about it. He doesn’t hide it. So he engineers a meet and Rafe, a very shy, seemingly shy guy, is always beaten down. He doesn’t know what to do until he’s given that chance, and that chance end up being a very frisky encounter.
But it was amazing to watch this character Rafe, who we’ve only just met about five pages before owning it and owning his feelings and owning his sexuality. And then just yeah, I’m I don’t know how to explain I’ve really enjoyed this little instalment.
It ends with us hearing from Abe and what he has in store next for Nick. I do love what we’ve seen of Nick and Abe’s friendship. But with Give In To Me in the last instalment I don’t know how much we’re going to see it.
I would actually read a full-length book of Nick and the whole sex demon world. To have no more than 20 odd pages you just don’t get enough. I mean, I know it’s bite-sized feels. But I want more. I want to read more, dare I say a bit more sizzle in my life with these characters.
And yes, I find it in these pages and they are enough to make you feel a bit warm and fuzzy at times and they are enough to leave you wanting. I think that’s what I’ve enjoyed about these areas and the bite-sized ness of it.
But I want a full book. Can we arrange that?
Until next time xxx
