A spy with a criminal past. A dark family secret. Freedom at the cost of betrayal.
To escape her mobster family, Toni fakes her own death, but before she can start anew in Mexico City, she’s pulled into a world of spies and deadly secrets. Her new life crumbles when she discovers her boss is keeping secrets of his own.
When word gets around that Toni’s brother is on his way to Mexico, she fears the worst - he wants to hunt her down.
Cornered and with nowhere to turn, Toni must decide: will she run once more, or will she risk her life for a chance of freedom?
I was intrigued by the blurb and thought I would give this a go. I had no idea how much I would love this book when I got to the end!!!!
It was an interesting premise, Toni, on the run from her family and it all goes a bit Pete Tong at the beginning. Then she meets the mysterious Carl and life takes a different turn. I wasn’t sure what to think of Carl, because I didn’t trust him at first and I just wondered if he was another ‘Jimmy’ and wanted to control Toni. In the end, I liked him. I loved the bond he has with Toni and her cat Purrito!
This has the setting to be a fab series as there is a lot that needs to be resolved…and quick! A few things have been left purposely open, especially that last mission, which I’m not sure what implications it has at the moment. The story was developed so well and you are right there with Toni, on her missions and a few hell-raising moments.
I blitzed this book pretty much in one sitting as I went on Toni’s journey with her and wondered how the heck she would make it out alive. It is a thrill-seeking book and there is something going on every page and is the ultimate page-turner with short enticing chapters. We have only just started to scratch the surface with her brothers and so I hope we get the opportunity to do so!
I really did love this book more than I expected to. It is such a top top book and I am so glad I got the chance to read it!
Until next time xxx
