A witch lost in time. A man with magic in his blood and a chip on his shoulder. Dark secrets and shadowy magic. Steamy romance meets contemporary fantasy with a time slip in the first book of this new series.
Cassie Gearhart casts a spell in the forest in the summer of 1974. The next thing she knows, she wakes up to find the world irrevocably changed.
It's 2019, for one thing. For another, all of her coven members have vanished, leaving behind only one man who holds the key to their secrets, Nick Felson, the grandson of her high priestess and a rough-around-the-edges farm boy who wants nothing to do with twenty-year-old Cassie.
For twenty-three-year-old Nick Felson, there are two worlds: one, Willow Creek, Virginia, before everything went to hell. And the other, after.
He's sworn off magic, until a confused Cassie knocks on his door in the middle of the night, somehow missing forty-five years' worth of time. But Nick knows falling for Cassie means letting magic back into his life-and that's one line he swore he'd never cross.
Can Cassie unravel the mystery that transported her decades into the future? And can Nick resist the powerful magic and heart-pounding passion that swirl in the air whenever he and Cassie are together?
The Tangled Magic Series is intended for readers 18-plus who enjoy short but steamy reads, wild and witchy magic, swoon-worthy kisses, and small-town charm. The series is best read in order.
✮ My Review ✮
I picked this book up because I saw it was a novella and plus I have not read anything romance-y or witchy in a while and thought this would be a nice snappy read. Well, I was right, what I did not expect is the fact I am sucked into Cassie and Nick’s world already and would very much like book two now!
It has got a label of being an 18+ due to the steamy romance and of course sex! I did find that this element was a bit rushed and felt a bit forced but they were having a lot of fun who was I to stop them. Maybe the pull with witches are different but the connection that Nick and Cassie feel and fall for each other is all very quick and intense. For someone who has been asleep for forty-five years, well she certainly wasted no time! That being said I did enjoy the dynamic of these two, Nick is a closed-off and stilted character, something happened in his past and he has decided the time is now to move on from the farm but what happened in his past? Cassie has years to catch up on and a lot has happened since she went “away” can she adjust? Despite this, the connection they do have is truly magical and it does work. Both are flawed and both have their own demons to face and I look forward to the journey they have to go on.
I really did enjoy this story, being a novella a lot has been packed into the pages. I did think one element was rushed near the end, but it has left it open for the next book and I am looking forward to seeing where we are taken to next. It was quite cute and it made for an easy read whilst enjoying the magic of the witches and prophecies to be fulfilled.
It is an exciting series and Young has left me wanting more and wanting to know what happens next. I feel there is something big going to happen in the next book, something that will destruct the world we know it. I love the pacing of the book even if the end was a bit rushed because the story is so intriguing I want more, or maybe Young has cast a spell on me? The only way to know if this is sorcery or not is if you read it!
Until next time xxx

Behind The Sentence says
I just kind of wish this book was a little longer so I could enjoy it more a little more time. And maybe with more pages the relatonship between Cassie and Nick would developed a little slower because chemistry between them.
I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to see what will happend in next one.

This is a well written, enthralling story that I thoroughly enjoyed escaping into. The character development is great, bringing them to life in the pages of the story. The relationship development between Cassie and Nick is, perhaps, a little rushed but it is still magical. The ending definitely eager to read future books in this series! This is a fast paced, magical mystery with plenty of intrigue, suspense and surprises.

Denise Young writes a beautiful story that is fast paced and truly a magical love story between Cassie and Nick. Once I started this amazing read, there was no way to put it down. There is so much excitement! The attraction and connection of these two characters were undeniably electrifying and oh so supernatural. I loved the characters, and the world Young has built. The story is also wrapped up nicely for the next installment of this mystical read.

I’ve never read a time slip story before, and I was intrigued about how all the elements (see what I did there?) would intertwine.
You could feel the magic weaving itself as each new strand of the story unfolded.
Cassie and Nick have an instant connection which leaps right off the page. It’s that sense of ‘rightness’ they have when they’re together. Like being two halves of the same whole.
I know I’m being vague, but on some occasions less is more, peeps. I don’t want to be struck down with size-seven-in-mouth-itis – i.e. giving too much away. Heaven forbid *smirks*.
Tangled Roots is an Enthralling read, full of Mystery, Danger, Excitement, Magic and a Sprinkle of Romance. The Characters are complex and well written. The pace was just right for this magical mystery, it held my attention and kept me intrigued which is perfect.
