Annabelle Dare is in a good place. She landed a sweet job, teaching at the quaint Fox River Elementary School. She has everything she needs: teaching music and sharing an apartment with her best friend. A simple life, she’s convinced, is all she needs.
Asher Grace knows who he is and what he has to offer. Nothing. A poor boy from the wrong side of town, steel worker, with too much weight on his shoulders as he is trying to hold his family together. Best choice is avoiding too-sweet-for-her-own-good Annabelle at all costs.
Annabelle falls in love with the way she comes to life with Asher. He awakens a hunger for life and love in her that she didn’t know she possessed.
Asher must learn his worth beyond his upbringing and his past. Annabelle must learn to stoke the fire of life as it burns within her and learn how close she can get before the flames lick her.

A Day in the Life of Author Jess B. Moore
Hello, my name is Jess. Nice to meet you. I am a stay at home mom, homeschooler, co-band manager, and writer. Something I’m frequently asked about is how I fit it all in. I’ll give you a glimpse into my daily life and tell you how I do not in fact fit it all in, but pick and choose, just doing my best.
First, I am notorious for letting things slip through the cracks. This is bound to happen. My mom was always the first to tell me I’m too busy and need to let some things go. She wasn’t wrong, but I also LOVE all the things I do, and find a way to make them work.
My alarm goes off at 6:45 am each morning.
I promptly rise, walk to the alarm, and turn it off. Then return to the comfort of my bed.
Between 7 and 8, my younger son will climb into bed with me, make sure I know what time it is, and that I should be awake. At which point I will cuddle him, talk with him, then eventually get up and start our day.
I have a morning routine for myself – including washing my face with peppermint soap, taking my meds with a full glass of water, and pouring myself a mug of coffee. I start breakfast, check my emails, feed the cats, clean the litter, and wake the older son.
We eat breakfast together, during which time we go over our schedule for the day, and any big things happening during the next few days.
(Ex: “it’s Tuesday, so you have music lessons this evening,” or “you have a gig at the airport on Friday, at the High Lonesome Strings event on Saturday, and we need to make sure your gig clothes are clean.”)
My kids are 12 and 14, in 6th grade and 9th, and capable of doing a portion of their schoolwork on their own. Being that we’ve homeschooled all along – they know the routine and are happy to get started (in order to get finished).
While they work, I work. Of course I’m there to check math problems, review comprehension questions, and assist in activities. But I’m also able to update my social media accounts, create graphics on Canva.com, and reply to emails.
We eat lunch around noon each day. Something quick and easy, saving the “real” cooking for dinner. We sit together, talk, recap what’s left on our schedules for the day, etc.
Early afternoon is when I write. They practice their instruments, do chores, and have time to play video games. I sit in my bedroom – accessible but away from the bulk of their distracting noises – and write. My goal on weekdays is 2,000 words,
and this takes me roughly 2 to 3 hours to complete. On a good day. Today, I stared at my screen, I listened to music, and then I gave up and focused on this blog post instead. Haha.
Late afternoon I do chores, make sure the kids are on track, then start dinner. I’m not a chef, but I do try to cook more nights than not. Typically after the husband/father/love of my life is home from work, we all eat dinner together. Then hang out, talking, playing, or watching movies, until bedtime.
The kids go to bed at 8 pm. The oldest can stay up and read 45 minutes past that. This is when I have time to read too. I’m an avid reader, but sometimes all the writing gets in the way of my reading time! Lately it’s been at bedtime. I’m usually asleep by 9 am, and remain unashamed of my need for solid hours of sleep.
Each day is different.
Today, I had to write up three set lists for the kids’ band for upcoming gigs. This involved coordination with the other band mom – my co captain so to speak of One Fret Over.
My eyes have been bothering me, so I called to make an appointment to get my eyes checked.
I took book photos for my Instagram account, doing enough to last me the rest of the week, and when I finish this post, I’ll be creating graphics to post the rest of the week too.
I don’t know how I do it. I just do.
My house is rarely super clean. Bare minimum folks.
Did I forget to call and make appointments for haircuts? Yep, just remembered. Oops.
I used to practice yoga and knit. I belonged to a running group and a knitting group. Now, I write. I write, and I write, and I help keep up with all the band stuff, and I get through it with a smile, and forgiveness for myself when things go awry.
With mirth & moxie,
Jess B. Moore
