Harry can't wait for his holidays with the dire Dursleys to end.
But a small, self-punishing house-elf warns Harry of mortal danger awaiting him at Hogwarts School.
Returning to the castle nevertheless, Harry hears a rumour about a chamber of secrets, holding unknown horrors for wizards of Muggle parentage.
Now someone is casting spells that paralyse people, making them seem dead, and a terrible warning is found painted on the wall.
The chief suspect - and always in the wrong place - is Harry.
But something much darker has yet to be unleashed.
This book took us a while to get through what with life and covid. On a recent drive home, we blitz the last two chapters on audio, which mini-me loved! The great thing about taking so long to read it was she had forgotten everything about it pretty much. So it was almost brand new to her and me despite the number of times I have watched the films!! There really isn’t anything new to be said or added so will probably just generally waffle here.
I loved reading the book because as I have said before so much is not in the film. I love the added details. The small conversations and of course we had to cheer a little with Dobby!
Mini-me adores the Harry Potter films and she is loving the books. She loves seeing what the characters get up to and she is right there in the action, so far as shouting encouragement or shrieking in fear at different parts of the book. It is such a great thing to experience as a mum and with a book, I have loved.
I am loving my re-reading of the series. I love the little bits of the book that you forget about when you watch the films. Little quips and scenes. Lockhart is more exasperating in the books than in the films. But I love that, because these characters carry their own, in their own way. And they are a great talking point. I dead the Umbridge book! Shudder.
This book does have a few questions in my mind, which always perplexed me. Harry’s loaded, why won’t he buy Ron a new wand??? Although it worked in Ron’s favour this time!! But what about the next?
I love Dobby and always will and I love his introduction to us and Harry. Apart from Hermoine, Dobby is mini-me’s favourite….mine are Sirius, Fred and George?
Doesn’t everyone wish Hogwarts was real! But then, what school in their right mind would let Harry and Ron just run about like they own the place and not have any repercussions!!
Right, on to my favourite book Prisoner of Azkaban. We are starting the audiobook on the drive home!
Until next time xxx
