One moment can change everything…
Alice Emerson and best friend Sasha Miller have made a pact. They’ve decided to swap city living for the beautiful white beaches of the Outer Banks and pour everything they have into launching an ice cream shop in the little house by the sea where Alice spent blissful childhood holidays with her grandfather. As Alice and Sasha add colour to the walls of the beach house and tempt the locals with their delicious recipes, their fresh new life begins to take shape.
Swept away by her plans, love is the last thing on Alice’s mind. But she keeps running into mysterious doctor Jack Barnes, and finds herself falling for his golden charm and warm smile. As they laugh through sunshine-filled days and long romantic evenings, Alice tries hard not to think he could be the one for her – Jack is only here for the season, and Alice has had her fair share of heartbreak.
Just when Alice’s summer couldn’t be more perfect, she discovers an old letter tucked away in the beach house. It contains a family secret that turns Alice’s world upside down and threatens the future of the ice cream shop. And then Jack reveals a secret of his own..
Will Alice have her dreams shattered and her heart broken, or can she find true happiness this summer?

Well wasn’t this just a cute story! Its always the journey we go on in books, regardless if we figure out the ending. It still made my eyes leak and it made me smile.
I could almost feel the sun on my skin, sand between my toes and I could hear the ocean around me despite the awful English weather we are having. This book is pure escapism to me.
I have said this before but I love books where people give up what they know and start a new adventure. Alice and her friend Sasha do just that. Leaving behind the grey clouds, low spirits and broken hearts, they go to a place of blue skies and seas, gold sands and sun and a place to restock and find that joy again.
I must admit my head spun a little bit with how quickly things progressed. From one page Alice has sworn off men, focusing time on her and Henry, her son. To the next falling in love with Jack and spending all her time with him. No doubt this does happen in real life otherwise we wouldn’t have all these stories but I guess I need a chance to breathe. However saying that I would be the same, I tended to fall in love too quickly. I mean who doesn’t love HEA and love at first sight, I know I do.
Jenny has given us a group of people who are all likeable. They always want what is best for each other and its a life without conflict, well without some conflict. But you root for them all, you want that happily ever after for everyone. Second chance stories are my favourite and this made it such an enjoyable read.
This is my first outing with one of Jenny’s book and I know I will be picking up her book again. For a few hours, I can escape to the sunshine and live someone else’s life. Because if all her books are like this then I will be back. I am getting frustrated with myself, I get excited thinking ooh I have The Summer Hideaway to read tonight, get eager to start reading and realise I have finished the bloody book and I don’t have it to read. I need to get my fix now!! Send Help!!!!
Until next time xxx
