Rule #1: No Dating Cowboys.
A fake fiancé doesn’t count, right? Oh boy . . .Amy Weaver is tired of her dad meddling in her love life. Fed up, she hires an actor to play the part of her fake cowboy fiancé when she goes home for her grandpa’s ninetieth birthday. Sure, Luke Jenkins has got looks, charm, and muscular legs, but this is business, pure and simple. Things are fine and dandy until she finds out he’s a real cowboy, not an actor. Now, she’s stuck between a rock and his chiseled jawline, falling faster than a sack of horseshoes. How the heck is Amy supposed to ignore the sparks between them and stick to her rule of not dating cowboys? All bets are off.
Another re-share of a review today, this time, little lady, it’s There’s Something About a Cowboy. Even though you know where a book is going to go when there is a bet involved, it still is so much fricking fun! This review I wrote January 14, 2019, so hopefully, I am much more refined!
✮ My Review ✮
This is not my first rodeo with Mr Amooi….sorry could not resist! For those who know me and speak to me. I always bang on about Mr Amooi and how his book Five Minutes late got me out of my reading slump…if you didn’t you do now! Mr Amooi’s books never let me down and this book is just the same!
I always fly through his books, I got this done in one sitting, when I open the page (or turn the kindle on) I am done for. His writing is magical, it sucks me into the story and the journey I get to go onto with our two star crossed lovers.
This book had all the lovey feels, I mean who would not love a cowboy! Especially one as hot as Luke! There is more than meets the eye with this hot diggory guy, and his eye is firmly on Amy, our heroine of the book. She is shutting herself off from love and is working in a hotel where she does not want to be. She has forgotten her dreams, and in walks Luke, could he be the one that helps her. But first…he is a cowboy and he has to be her fake fiancé!!
This book is fun, the fake fiancé was fun to read, the meeting of Amy’s family, the hilarious grandpa and grams. Aunt Barbara who wants to share all her lotions and then the standoffish dad and the ex Nathan who keeps turning up like a bad smell. Everyone had a part to play, and they played it well. Plus with the miscommunications and secrets you know only then the story is complete and it is no different here! And the banter is a hoot and gave me a good giggle, the flirting was steamy and left Amy quite breathless at times!
Being set in Julian, California sounded awesome and I felt like I could picture the town clearly and it is somewhere I would love to visit. I have already told the boy I want to live in Texas so this place would be perfect!
So we can all tell where the story is going..but that does not matter. Who cares if you know the end already, it is the adventure we go to with them and you know what you may guess the ending but Mr Amooi always gives you more than you thought.
I can never and will never get bored with his books. Each time I see his name on a book I want, so much, in fact, I think I may go and treat myself to a few more… I mean I do deserve it, I have been good already so far this year!!
This book had me smiling throughout with the comedic aspect as well as the love, I mean I do love a happy ending and a good romance book.
It still amazes me how well he get into a woman’s psyche (yes I know I said that last time!) but his portrayal of women is spot on in my mind. He gets the angst, the love, the need and desire spot on, and add in a mans’ point of view in this book and you are onto a winner in my eyes.
Each book I read, I fall in love more and more with the different characters but the magic of his writing and stories that are told. I love the covers of the books they emanate fun and cute perfectly which is exactly what this story is. Wow, this is a lot of gushing but it is so thoroughly deserved!
For me, Rich Amooi is an author that delivers time and time again and I urge you all to go and check out his books!
I definitely stick by what I wrote here! Plus I still want to meet a cowboy, have my hat tipped at, be called “little lady” and do a bit of line-dancing. Whose with me?! Anyone? It got 5 stars from me last time and I have to say it’s still 5 stars!
What have other reviewers said?
Rae Reads book blog says:- There’s Something About a Cowboy instantly pulled me in with witty writing that had me smiling throughout. It really is a brilliant feel good story and I loved every moment!
BRMaycock’s Book Blog says:- Oh my wow. What. A. Book! K. Okay. Starting now…So maybe you’ve heard of a film called The Wedding Date? It’s got Debra Messing in it and Dermot Mulroney (I never knew his name, he’s the guy from My Best Friend’s Wedding and a billion other films, that simply had to do that smoulder look and you’d be absolute putty!) Well that is what this reminds me of, in the best, non cliched, but sometimes cliched, but only when done perfectly, and only ever when it’s warranted (run, run for your lives, I’m not done gushing yet!!!).
Me and My Books says:- This is a book that would appeal to contemporary romance and rom-com readers. It has a great storyline and cast and there are some surprises along the way. This is the first time I have read anything by this author and I will definitely be buying more. Ideal if you are looking for an escape into a pleasant, charming, at times humorous story. One I would recommend.
