Sixty seconds after she wakes from a coma, Maggie's world is torn apart
The police tell her that her daughter Elspeth is dead. That she drowned when the car Maggie had been driving plunged into the river. Maggie remembers nothing.
When Maggie begs to see her husband Sean, the police tell her that he has disappeared. He was last seen on the day of her daughter's funeral.
What really happened that day at the river?Where is Maggie's husband? And why can't she shake the suspicion that somewhere, somehow, her daughter is still alive?
This is a review from September – nearly finished my blitz!
Holy frogs!
This book, I think is quite easy to say this book is going to be one of my top books of the year. It was phenomenal. I didn’t twig for so long about one of the twists in the book. It just shocked me. This whole book has shocked me and it has broken me. Just everything about this book was simply just amazing. I don’t quite know how I’m going to review this. It was just absolutely fantastic.
I felt everything for Maggie from the beginning. From the second she woke up from the accident to find out the truth. You just couldn’t help but be affected by what she was going through. It wasn’t clear what the secret was but then when you find out the secret, as much as I think I was expecting a bigger reveal, it was absolutely earth-shattering. I didn’t expect that until something clicked, I can’t really say too much but yeah, something clicked.
You have the story of Maggie after her accident trying to piece her life together, figuring out what was going on and what was true. You have someone writing letters and that broke me. Those letters broke me. I can’t stop crying as I write this. As I say, quite simply this book was just phenomenal. I don’t really know what words to give you. It’s a book that’s gonna stay with me for a long time. It was just unreal.
It’s definitely a book you need to read. Nuala’s writing is phenomenal. I know I keep saying that word, but it was just fantastic. She sucks you in with this seemingly straightforward storyline. I can tell you now it’s anything but straightforward, the dots cannot be connected until you’re allowed them to be connected. Maybe someone else might have picked them up quicker than I did, I was a bit slow on the uptake I was listening to the audiobook and I was getting a bit distracted by Tara Fitzgerald’s voice. I just I was hooked on a story and I blitzed this audiobook and pretty much two and a half days.
I just wanted to know what was going to happen. I wanted to know Maggie’s secret. I wanted to know what was going on with Maggie. I wanted the truth. I just didn’t expect the truth that we got and the ending although it was satisfying. It got me, it made me sob. That final bit got me.
I’m looking forward to reading Nuala’s other book. I think she’s got an amazing writing style that makes the stories more real and they completely hit home. The storylines themselves are quite hard in this book. It was hard. It was horrible to hear what one person was going through. The fact that you know the things happened, made it just all that more real. Just when you learn the truth about the day of the accident Wow. I think I need a few more tissues. Just fantastic and you need to read it.
Until the next time xxx
