Would you defend your husband if he was accused of killing his mistress?
Sarah Morgan is a successful and powerful defense attorney in Washington D.C. At 33 years old, she is a named partner at her firm and life is going exactly how she planned.
The same cannot be said for her husband, Adam. He is a struggling writer who has had little success in his career. He begins to tire of his and Sarah’s relationship as she is constantly working.
Out in the secluded woods, at Adam and Sarah’s second home, Adam engages in a passionate affair with Kelly Summers.
Then, one morning everything changes. Adam is arrested for Kelly’s murder. She had been found stabbed to death in Adam and Sarah’s second home.
Sarah soon finds herself playing the defender for her own husband, a man accused of murdering his mistress.
But is Adam guilty or is he innocent?
What the heck did I just read!! That ending! I didn’t have an inkling until we did a time jump, and then it clicked! And Oh my god!!
I loved the narrators as we flick between the two leads, Adam and Sara. I must admit I didn’t like Adam, after everything he did and was still doing, he was just so selfish. And the fact he had the audacity to try and own Sara despite everything drove me insane! Sarah, what a character!! To stand by her husband like that, that was some strength. I loved that we had different narrators for Adam and Sarah. It meant when we saw the same characters, the way it was narrated was different, and added a different emphasis on the characters. It was great!
There was a bit, ok a lot, of repetition with the characters as they would repeat something that they had just said a page ago but you can easily block that out as the storyline was so enticing as you just had to know how it would end! It wasn’t the ending I was expecting!!!
I would love to have seen the court case play out, as I do love courtroom dramas, but I think that it was played by Jeneva, just hooking us and leaving us hanging for a while! While I loved the ending, I think it’s also a dark ending. The death of Kelly and what surrounded it was quite sad and very sinister, and kudos to the author for how it was written but it was dark!
This book came up on my scribd account to read now! Literally shouting at me, and so when I saw the audiobook I jumped at the chance. What a chance and what a ride!
Until next time xxx
