They found their dream home.
It’s the perfect place to die.Newlyweds Amy and Tim move into their dream home, anxious to put their rocky past behind them and make a fresh start.
But the rambling fixer-upper and its surrounding gardens need more work than they expected, so they decide to hire a live-in caretaker.
Paul seems to be the perfect candidate. But he has an ulterior motive – taking the job is just one part of the deadly revenge plan he’s been hatching for years.
Soon, Amy starts to notice strange things happening around the house. Tim dismisses her concerns, and tension between the couple starts to build. As the rift between them grows ever wider, Paul sets the final phase of his horrifying plan in motion.
Now Amy and Tim are in a fight for survival - and their dream home has become a nightmare from which they may never escape
This was a very messed up story. I found that I kept turning the pages despite not liking the characters and it kept me going when I had COVID. Tim is a douche and Amy is a bit weak, second-guessing her Husband.
However, I kept going. Boy, I am glad I did. The ending, what a shock. That final sentence sent chills down my spine. Oh, my days.
The rest of the story is an uncomfortable read, because of what happens. The idea of this story is dark, I have seen a few films set like this and loved them despite worrying whether it could happen in my house! We know who is doing what and why, which I never have a problem with because I love watching everything play out. You see the two sides of the character as we know the truth while the others are completely oblivious. I find this fascinating watching the effects it has on the unawares, waiting for the reveal to happen, and it keeps you on tenterhooks for sure!
A lot of my notes on this book were things like wow, stalker, douche, and creepy so you can see how it goes.
There are some points you have to suspend some disbelief with some scenes but then it wouldn’t be a thriller without that. However, Emily’s writing sucks you in as we are led on this rollercoaster of crazy leaving you with a sickening feeling at the end…I hear there may even be a sequel -*squeal*
Until next time xxx
