Well, 2022 was quite frankly 80% of a shit show for me. I’m not going to focus on the toxic people or my knee but will look back to the good times.
My tour business, for me, was successful, I created some new connections which I am hoping to build on in 2023 and hopefully review my full-time job. There is also something exciting in the pipeline for me and someone else…watch this space.
I managed to get the rights back and republish my book Ouija and with the help of a friend, I got the best seller badge on Amazon which was such a shock for me and I got over 100 reviews /ratings!!! Ok, not all are favourable, but I am perfectly fine with that, one did make me laugh as they read 60% before they DNF as they said life was too short, fair play but I would’ve given up long before 60%!! LOL. I am just waiting for the final ok from ACX/Amazon for my audiobook – it has been a right nightmare but nearly there!!! I can’t wait for everyone to hear what Luke has done to my book – Amazing doesn’t cover it!
I do have good news about my new book, I gave a tease on my author page. The title of my next book, as it stands, is called Night Stalkers. If it works out how I want it to, then this will be the first of a new series. I will be linking this book to Ouija, just as an added tease. The pre-order will be up soon, I am just getting advice on the blurb, and then I will be able to share more with you. However, if you have checked out my social media lately, you will see that I’ve been slightly obsessed with Ghost Adventures and Zak Bagans………. hmmm………sorry slightly distracted there. Well, that was my small hint 😉
And then books!! Books books books!
So I went through a recent blitz of sharing all my reviews which took me ages to catch up on – thank you for sticking around while I shared nearly 30 reviews! I finally finished and got my book tracker spreadsheet up to date, and now I have some fun statistics to look at!
I read 130 books in 2022! I can’t quite believe it, I listened to a hell of a lot of audiobooks, and I have found some hidden gems!!! Over the 130 books, I read 23,686 pages and listened to 432 hours of books! Quite a year!
I read 95 different authors, with 66 authors being brand new to me – my most-read author is Rosie Green!
My best month for reading was July when I read 14 books and my “worst” month was November with only 7 books, which surprises me!
My longest audiobook was Earth 101 by Emae Church running at 897 minutes and my shortest was Blinded Me With Science by Tara September running at 206 minutes
My longest book was Storytellers by Bjorn Larsson at 626 pages and my shortest was Give In To Me by Mia Ryder at 19 pages.
I started 21 new series this year, continued 39 series, and completed 2 series. I think I have quite a few series to read!! But it was pretty much 50% between series and standalone books.
I mean I could go on and on and on! But I won’t. The spreadsheet is set up for this year and I am going to be much more rigid! I am also planning on 90 books again this year.
I’ve also set up 3 challenges to do this year.
You can read more about 3 of them here, although the pages aren’t complete yet!!
A-Z Reading Challenge – pretty self-explanatory, I have allocated books based on the author’s surname.
Net Galley 2023 – time to get my ratio up! I am aiming for 40% by the end of the year which works out to 51 books from my shelf, luckily some are included in my A-Z Challenge but you can find the full list on the page.
The final challenge is a Mystery book each month. Last year the mini one wrapped up 24 books from my bookshelf and I am going to try and read them too. I can’t remember which books they were though but we opened the first two!
So Book of the Year? Well, I am still musing over that and will do a separate post for this as I’m not sure which way I am headed yet! I’m not sure I can decide!
Not quite sure what else is going on in my noggin, so I think I will leave it there.
What was your Book of the Year? What Book Challenges, if any, are you doing? How many books are you planning to read this year?
Look forward to spending 2023 being more active and reading your posts and recommendations.
Until the next time xxx

Wishing you a much better 2023 in terms of work and health! But well done on reading many more books than expected, especially considering the circumstances!
