Slight change of plan today, and one that I can only apologise profusely for and to Anne, Jonathan, and the publisher. Today I am meant to be sharing my thoughts on Blood Country, however, due to some news on my knee, my reading has taken a hit and I am gutted it came at a time when I was on the tour for THIS BOOK! Anyway, enough about me and my knee, this post is to celebrate the legend that is Jonathan Janz and follow up with my review shortly!
So, avid readers of this blog will know that Jonathan Janz is my go-to for all things horror. He is a legend and completely on par with my favourite Richard Laymon. I am absolutely loving Blood Country and it’s epic to be back with Dex and Iris and pick up from that cliffhanger that left me swearing!! (You can read my review of The Raven here.) As you can read from just that review I am a HUGE fan of him…ok fangirling aside, what is this book all about?
Three years ago the world ended when a group of rogue scientists unleashed a virus that awakened long-dormant strands of human DNA. They awakened the bestial side of humankind: werewolves, satyrs, and all manner of bloodthirsty creatures. Within months, nearly every man, woman, or child was transformed into a monster…or slaughtered by one.
A rare survivor without special powers, Dez McClane has been fighting for his life since mankind fell, including a tense barfight that ended in a cataclysmic inferno. Dez would never have survived the battle without Iris, a woman he’s falling for but can never be with because of the monster inside her. Now Dez’s ex-girlfriend and Iris’s young daughter have been taken hostage by an even greater evil, the dominant species in this hellish new world:
Vampires.
The bloodthirsty creatures have transformed a four-story school building into their fortress, and they’re holding Dez’s ex-girlfriend and Iris’s young daughter captive. To save them, Dez and his friends must risk everything. They must infiltrate the vampires’ stronghold and face unspeakable terrors.
Because death awaits them in the fortress. Or something far worse.
I mean how AMAZING does this sound!! What have readers already thought?
“The pacing is fast, the action sequences exciting, but the story is elevated by the space Janz makes for character development, world building, and most importantly, a warmth that radiates out from every page.”
Goodreads Reviewer
“This is an action-packed book that covers a short period of time, but fleshes out a world, and a group of comrades, perfectly.”
Goodreads Reviewer
“The characters are crisp and deep whilst the villains are deviously dark but have enough meat on their bones to give them that extra dimension beyond the typical villain form.”

Well, this has me chomping at the bit to get my read back! I WILL be back with a review very soon!
Again my apologies to all!
Until next time xxx
