Lottie Fanshawe has become an expert over the years at banishing dark memories of the past – but now, the time has come to sell Sycamore House, her old family home, which she walked away from a decade ago.
With beloved brother Dylan now a missing person – a victim of their past – there's only Lottie left to organise the sale.
Being back in Sunnybrook is the last thing she needs, and her plan is to get in and out as speedily as possible. But finding a welcome at the Little Duck Pond Cafe helps Lottie in more ways than she could have imagined.
And then there are her growing feelings for dark-eyed Liam Westerbrook to grapple with . . .
I always start my review and end the book in tears. I found this book especially hard when reading about Lottie’s dad. The description of him is reflective of my dad and sadly it brought back too many hard memories for me to face. I got Lottie, to an extent some of her life could have been my story.
I don’t know if we will see Lottie again but she and Liam were a nice addition to the family. So many new characters in this book and they all deserve the limelight in their own way, especially Dylan. Although, I fear I would find his story too hard to read.
That’s the thing I love about Rosie’s books, she tackles sensitive and hard subjects, but sprinkles love and hope throughout her books. The subjects are tackled sensitively and with care, and they always pull at the heartstrings!
I recently discovered I had missed a book in the series, number 27! How I don’t know and of course we have book 30(!!!) Coming soon!
I know that I can’t wait! These books are easily devoured. I always fall foul of just one more chapter problem. In each chapter, you just want to carry on and before you know it’s 1 am and there’s a thunderstorm outside and you have to be up in less than 5 hours….true story!
I think this will stay with me for a while as I reflect upon my Dad and my memories. Thank you, Rosie.
Until the next time xxx
My thanks to Rachel at Rachel’s Random Resources for the tour invite and to the author for a copy of the book in return for my honest and unbiased review.
