They preyed on the innocent. Now they will pay.
Manfred Bauer, a convicted sex offender, is found bludgeoned to death.
As DCI Flint and the MCIU begin a murder investigation, they are faced with a wall of silence from an apathetic public who have little sympathy for the dead man.
Then a second sex offender is found murdered. The killer has left an identical signature on the shattered skulls of each victim, leaving DCI Flint in no doubt the murders are linked.
As the subsequent investigation gathers pace, it uncovers the existence of a shadowy organisation targeting sex offenders. But who is behind it? And how can it be stopped?
When a third victim is beaten to death on a canal towpath, Flint realises he is in a race against time – he needs to move fast if he is to prevent the killers striking again.
But working quickly means taking risks and Flint soon realises his own team may be in grave danger - as they face off against a group who will stop at nothing to accomplish their deadly mission.
A Sweet Revenge - the seventh in the gripping detective series featuring DCI Danny Flint.
This is another book I read in June, and none of my notes were saved 🙁
This is book 7 in a series but I found it easy to pick up and meet the team, of course, I will be going back to read the others and after the epilogue, I am looking forward to the next book, I need to know what happens next!! I read this without feeling like I was missing out on too much from the previous books and of course, you get your favourites. I also loved that this was set in the 80s, a time before technology led the way.
The story is as it says on the tin, someone is going around killing sex offenders! Whilst this is a plot that has been done before, I found it refreshing how Trevor planned this out! It was intense and for a few moments, I had my heart in my throat. I think the fact that there was no technology amplified this. I was gripped in this race against the clock, where despite the “type” of person whom was being killed, you didn’t want to witness this brutal violence! Crazy I know! Just watching what the “killer” was doing was so terrifying!!!!
It was a gripping read and it’s a new author that I have on my list to keep an eye on.
Until the next time xxx
