Daisy can’t sleep. But the cure is her worst nightmare.
Daisy hasn’t had a good night’s sleep in years. Her chronic insomnia has gotten so bad, it’s affecting her job as a journalist. So she’s delighted when she’s asked to review a new, luxurious sleep clinic - this could be the answer to her prayers.
At first, everything about the clinic seems perfect – the stunning seaside location, the beautiful rooms, the exquisite cuisine.
Clinic owner and chief therapist, Amity, is sure she can cure Daisy’s insomnia by uncovering its root cause. But to do that, she’ll use hypnosis to probe deep into Daisy’s past. And that’s not good – because Daisy has a terrible secret.
As Amity digs into her mind, Daisy feels more and more vulnerable. She begins to think there is something off about the clinic. Is her insomnia making her paranoid or does Amity have her own sinister agenda?
Fearing the past has finally caught up with her, Daisy wonders if she should just leave. But that’s not so easy – because this clinic, which was supposed to offer rest and safety, is the most terrifying place she’s ever been…
Ooohhhhh I did enjoy this one!! It was twisted and delicious! It had me questioning what was going on and whether it was real or all in Daisy’s head! What a thrill!!!
What a fascinating concept to read about. I am by no means anywhere near the level of Daisy’s insomnia. I suffer from bouts and my heart truly goes out to the true sufferers. What Daisy goes through with her sleep deprivation was not easy to read or witness. Her slow breakdown had me wondering if someone was playing tricks on her or if she was that far gone and that it was all in her head
It wasn’t until the end that I had an inkling of the bigger twist. The small one I got as I think it was obvious but I still loved the grandness of it all. But the main sting was clever and it wasn’t until near the reveal something clicked and it was a great OMG moment!
I read this in two sitting and thought it was the bee’s knees. I had to get back to it as soon as I could. It was intense and delightfully thrilling. I did love that end!
This is a book that once you pick it up, you easily lose the rest of your afternoon as you become so absorbed in the mystery of Daisy and well-being spa and the aloof Amity! The writing itself is absorbing and will have its hooks in you without you realising it, not letting go until the final page! Just loved it!
Until next time xxx
