Four hikers enter the mountains. Only two return. But is it tragedy? Or treachery?
When sisters Cat and Ginny travel with their husbands to the idyllic Swiss Alps for a hiking holiday, it’s not just a chance to take in the stunning scenery. It’s an opportunity to reconnect with each other after years of drifting apart—and patch up marriages that are straining at the seams.
As they head into the mountains, morale is high, but as the terrain turns treacherous, cracks in the relationships start to show. With worrying signs that someone might be following them, the sun begins to set and exhaustion kicks in. Suddenly, lost high on a terrifying ridge, tensions spill over—with disastrous consequences.
When only two of the four hikers make it down from the mountain, the police press them for their story—but soon become suspicious when their accounts just don’t add up.
What really happened up on that ridge? Who are the survivors? And what secrets are they trying to hide?
Oh my days, I mean what a book!! From the opening page, I was hooked! It was so intense being on that hike, and I really had no idea what the frick would happen…and I didn’t expect this!
It was dark, twisty and so messed up but I loved it. I was addicted, I was scared and I was excited by all the tension. I have no idea if I liked any of the characters or not, I mean they all had faults and they all had reasons for their outcomes but who is right being judge and jury?
While we are on the hike, we also have an undercurrent with an outside threat, and boy was this a creepy threat. The way the voice strips the character of their identity was terrifying and works so well. Just yet another layout of tension for us.
Yes, the book may be a bit “out there” by the end but I loved the twist and how it played out. It kept me guessing and I wasn’t guessing right that’s for sure!! It was FANTASTIC!
I haven’t read all of Susi’s books but I have to say, this without a shadow of a doubt, is my favourite one of them. Just shocking, addictive, and completely unputdownable. It left me wanting more when I was reading it that I found it so hard to stop reading and just kept going with one more chapter!! There were a lot of one-more chapters LOL.
What a journey! What a hike! Just not sure I will be taking one anytime soon…
Until the next adventure xxx
Thanks to Anne at Random Things Tours for the tour invite and the publisher for a copy of the book in return for my honest and unbiased review.

I love books with twists and turns! Any book that can keep me guessing to the end definitely sounds like high praise! I’ll for sure check it out!
If you like other books that keep you guessing, check out any book by Sally Hepworth. I’ve reviewed two books on my blog, and she has jumped onto my auto-buy list. If netgalley will ever stop sending me her ARCs 🙂
